Texas Chicken vs Kentucky Fried Chicken

Today as everyone is tired, we went the nearest restaurant, Texas Chicken. Food review and Menu review below.

The concept is quite similar to KFC, so I will make some comparison between KFC and Texas.

The chicken meat is about the same. Texas chicken skin is more like those pasar malam (night market) type, very crispy. KFC the aroma is better.

Size, since few years ago we noticed KFC chicken became smaller. This is just our observation and may not be true. Some outlets still maintain the big size. You check it out, this is just what we see and feel and may not be true. Texas chicken size is not small.

Mashed potato about the same, Texas is darker and maybe more salty. I prefer KFC's look, not so dark, plain look and plain means healthier.

Coleslaw, KFC is better. Texas that one is more watery.

Bread. KFC gives plain bread, Texas comes with Honey- Butter Biscuit, something different.

Price. Two adults one kid.
We go for combo 2 pieces chicken, with common mashed potato, Honey butter biscuit, coleslaw, drink. RM11.20
One classic burger combo, with drink and fries. RM5.95
Then 3 piece chicken a la carte to share. RM10.60
Total about RM30.

Average about RM10 per person. Control a bit can get RM5 per person.

Location. I think currently only in Klang Valley, IOI City Mall, The Mines, Tesco Extra Cheras, Sunway Pyramid, Jaya Shopping Centre, Kajang, KLIA2, etc etc.

They also have many other things in thier menu.

Service, good. Waiters very polite.

Conclusion. For me, I prefer KFC because the skin not too crispy. Not that I don't like crispy, is my perception that so crispy means more oily and less healthy. I may be wrong, but my own perception.

Some people may even prefer pasar malam type of skin, so crispy so nice.

Others, they said that if given a choice, both are the same. If they have eaten KFC, maybe next time is Texas. Eaten Texas, next time KFC.

I would say Texas have the quality, in terms of food, service, atmosphere. The price is not too expensive.

Worth the try and probably will visit again.

Try it.
